Transcript of Yahoo! Chat with EYC
October 7, 1999
ROL_guest: Damon: We just got off stage! Whatsupp everybody?!? Tour of 1999 with the Backstreet Boys!

PreppyGirl1980: Which song on your album is your fave?
ROL_guest: David: I like Time to Party another side of EYC that people aren't used to seeing.
ROL_guest: Trey: Mine is Fallen Angel cause that's a little smooth RnB side of EYC.
ROL_guest: Damon: In the Beginning is my favorite track off the album cause it showcases are vocal ability.
ROL_guest: Trey: And his momma like it!

wambam87: How was the concert?
ROL_guest: Trey: It was our third night in Chicago, and it was just awesome. The crowd was majorly into it, and it felt real good to get the response we got.
ROL_guest: Damon: Since the beginning of the tour, the reaction has been amazing and people are really starting to get what EYC is about.

xxaaronxcarterxx: What advice can you give to a music group that is trying to find management?
ROL_guest: David: It's very tough to find the right management you can trust. And rely on to play a major part in your career. Be very cautious and wise and network very much. Randy Phillips is our manager, we've been very blessed, I can't give you his number! You've got to be lucky to find someone with a good heart and who's good at what he does. It's hard to find. But managers can be fired if it doesn't work out. Network, do showcases and get referrals. This business is really tough.

Cheryl_323: How did you guys meet and how did you guys get started?
ROL_guest: Trey: I actually grew up in Alabama, and then moved to LA to puruse my career. I met Damon and we became really close friends. Thru mutual friends we hooked up with Dave. We hung out, and started writing music together. And from there, we put together a demo, a couple of songs, put together a demo video, had pictures taken. Had a nice little package. Thru our connections we shpopped our own deal and were lucky enough to get some good management, and here we are today!

PreppyGirl1980: What is your fave place in the world?
ROL_guest: Damon: My favorite place to perform is Australia, cause we were large there! The people were very laid back, nice and receptive to our music. They like to party, and really like to show how excited they are when they like something.
ROL_guest: Dave: I like performing in London, we had over seven top ten hits there. Every time we do a show they sing every word of our song, that's an amazing feeling to hold the mike and hear that.
ROL_guest: Trey: Mines a little of both, because like Dave said, we were known in London, they knew the songs. We had worked so hard to get there, it felt good. Now we hope to bring it to America.
tgccdze_cheerchic: What is it like opening for such a big name band?
ROL_guest: David: for us, we've started our career years ago with BSB years ago doing malls and high schools. Then we got to poen up for Prince and Whitney Houston overseas. So BSB are homeys from back in the days. We have known them so long, we forget they are larger than life, cause they are our homeys, you know? It's funny, you don't realize. The percs are - we do get a lot of free golf, food parties. It is awesome to tour the world with your friends, and they are larger than life. It's awesome.

onlyadreamer99: Where do you get the inspirations for the songs you write? Personal experiences? Jodi from CA
ROL_guest: Damon: we primarily write from our own personal experiences. We write about things we enjoy, relationshps we have had. We write from the heart and that' s why people can identify because we write from our true experiences.

eloquence01: How would you describe BSB's personalities now form way back then?
ROL_guest: To be honest with you, that's the awesome part. We've known each other for over six years and neither them or us has changed a bit. It's all about how's your family, your career, can we help you, can we help you?
ROL_guest: Dave: We were at a barbecue, they were speaking to us how we were large in Europe before they were. We were just friends, enver competing, cause they are a different kind of group as they are. We all have our own different perspectives as to what music is and songs. They invited us to the Millenium release party in NY, and they said let's tour like in the old days, and our management and the guys justl made it happen for us. And their management hadnever heard of us, but it happened!

Coolchica1616: do you consider yourselves a boy band?
ROL_guest: We're boys in a band. The closest comparison is probably a male TLC. We got the RnB pop and soul and the hype. Our music is very hype, different than normal. We're boys in a band, but we're not of the formula.

shorti_29: EYC, What do you think about the so called boy band battle?
ROL_guest: Dave: I have only one thign to see. BSB ovbiously were obviously the original, But I don't know why there's a bottle. Theres 1000's of rap bands, 1000's of rnb bands, why not 1000's of pop bands? I don't get caught up in it. Even though BSB were the originals in America. Who know? It's all press, record companies and management trying to create press and drama.

JoAnNa272: Who do you think is better, the Backstreet Boys or Nsync?
ROL_guest: Knowing BSB are our good friends and we're on tour with them.....

damon_trey_david: When are you going to have a contest where a fan gets to spend a day in the life of EYC? I've heard you talk about it before!
ROL_guest: It's been a little hectic right now. We just did a tv show at 7AM, we just four straight shows. We are beat! We hope to have a contest for our next single. We have a crazy schedule right now! Whoevere wins out there, get a lot of rest first, cause we got a crazy schedule. Go to www.eyclive.com for updates! Whenever we get teh time we read the emails, and get back to as many as possible!

jeani17_lovebsb: What has been the most interesting aspect for you while on tour?
ROL_guest: We thank our fans from the bottom of our hearts. We can always go back, the greatest thing right now is being on tour with good friends with ours. WE go out and play golf, go out dancing, go to movies. You don't get to hand when you don't know the other artists. So it's great to spend a bunch of time with the other artists.

zornoff_4: is it hard to be in the limelight of bsb and do you guys have significant others?
ROL_guest: Damon: it's a blessing actually, being in their limelight, helps us to create awareness. They say EYC is great too. It's been awesome.
ROL_guest: Dave: It's a blessing that they are sharing their limelight with us, such a lot of exposure. Their show is incredible, it's a really good show. They've come a long way, and if anyone deserves it, they do.

nsyncer713: hey EYC !! my name is Courtney and i am part of your Massacusetts street team. i saw you in concert at the Nickelodeon concert in Jun soe how did you like performing to a sold out arena? Love Courtney :)
ROL_guest: Yeah! Nickelodeon was a good one. There was about five artists, and everyone was pretty much on their own schedule, the show itself was great. And Massachusettes is one of our favorite places to visit.
ROL_guest: Trey: Constantly. I was always surprised, we, weould sign autographs before and after the show, and it was cool to see a lot of people out there like d movie and me in the movie. So thank you. Yeah, that's how we write, we all write from experiences we've had in the past or that we're going thru at the time. It would bring up a certain emotion or memory we were going thru at the time. The song we wrote together, Take You Out of My Blackbook. we were all teenagers and our girlfriends couldn't take it. And how we had to finally let them go cause of how they were mistreating us. We're single and it's very hard to have a staedy relationship out here on the road. WE've tried it before.
ROL_guest: We are young and out here, this is Dave, and I love to go out and have a good time and meet new people!

mimi13: Hey Trey! I just love the new hair cut! Looking forward to see you guys here in New Orleans. What is your favorite song on the album?
ROL_guest: I was a little hesitant about cutting my hair but the guys talked me into it. So thank you. And my favorite song on the album is Fallen Angel.

PLtoDvLkat: Hi dave, Damon, and Trey! I just wanted to let you know that you have a lot of fans online and with their help i have started a newsletter devoted to you guys! My mom has been telling me to tell you that. I just wanted to know if you were planning on coming to NJ soon to do autograph signing and stuff and if you aren't PLEASE COME! thanx so much Suzanne {suz} NJ and also my friend couldn't be here but she loves you guys so "hi" from Julie too =)
ROL_guest: Thank you from all three of us. It means so much to us that people like yourself are devoted to spreading our message to kids to help express themselves. We just cmae from New Jersey! If you e-mail us at eyclive.com we'll arrange something to come out!

stari007: did any of you guys go to college b4 this whole mucis thing got started?
ROL_guest: Actually we started in high school. Because of this business we all barely graduated high school.
ROL_guest: Damon:" I did go to UCLA for a while because I graduated high school with honors. But we all knew what we wanted to do! BUt kids out there should go to college. If i ever have a kid I will raise that kid to go to college.

damon_trey_david: Was this always your life's dream... or did you have other aspirations? Marissa
ROL_guest: We want to be entertainers. We've always known that we wanted to be very successful and entertain.
ROL_guest: David: I guess I didn't get enough attention as a kid!
ROL_guest: Damon: Me neither!
ROL_guest: I was in Alabama in the south, I was playing sports but also going to dance class. Everyone gave me a hard time, but I said which wyould you rather be doing, on the football field with 30 smelly guys or in class with 30 sweaty girls?
ROL_guest: David: I always knew I was destined, fulfilling my destiny, living my dream.
ROL_guest: Damon: I always got a lot of flak in my neighborhood because i was the only kid who tap danced. But I never lost faith in myself. And luckily I had a supportive family. So when I say Express Yourself Clearly, I speak from experience. People will try to impose their beliefs on you. What people think of you doesn't have to become your experience. Everyone is like, I knew you'd make it!

ntem: Who were your musical idols when you were growing up?
ROL_guest: Trey: I've always listened to a range of music. My favorite group growign up as an all around entertainer was Michael Jackson. Also gospel group Take Six. Also Jodeci. A solo artist, Joe.
ROL_guest: Damon: My musical influences growing up - a lot of Pendegrass, Johnny Gill, Michael MacDonald and of course Whitney Houston.
ROL_guest: Dave: I grew up with the one and only Prince, as a songwriter, entertainer and musician, I totally looked up to him as an artist. He did it all.

wenddel34: What do you think of howard stern re duing your songs?
ROL_guest: That's a great idea. It would be awesome. It would be a very original interpretation of our music. We're big Howard Stern fans. I take it as a compliment. It's all in fun.

eyc21: Damon, you're hair is awesom, how long dies it take to get done? ~ mandy
ROL_guest: I've been growing my hair for four years. So my hair is almost 4 years old. Thank you! Thank you! It's my natural hair, no weaves or extensions here! Not that there's anything wrong with a weave!

mimi13: Hey guys! Are you doing meet and greets in this current tour?
ROL_guest: We've actually been doing the Sears Meet and Greets with the BSB. But think if you write into our website and let our people know that you will be at a show, if you already have tickets, we can usually set something up. We always like to meet the people who support us.

sassya99: What megastar would you guys most like to hook up with on a collaboration?
ROL_guest: Damon: LEnny Kravitz.
ROL_guest: Trey: R. Kelly, Jo, Chico de Barge.
ROL_guest: Dave: Prince. Tracy Chapman. I'd like to work my boys the BSB. Lauryn Hill. Wyclef. LA & Babyface. Everyboyd. We coudl go on for days.

Royerin: Do any of you play instruments?
ROL_guest: That's the next step. We write melodies, lyrics, and sing we have to learn.
ROL_guest: Trey: Piano for me.
ROL_guest: Damon: Acoustic guitar.
ROL_guest: David: I'm just gonna dance.

mnpittam: Hi, it's Marissa... What's your fave song to perform?
ROL_guest: Trey: In our set right now that we're doing with the BSB, our very last song we close with is Time To Party. It's an alternative dance, hype, crazy, throw your hands in the air type of song. So it's all of our favorites right now. Marissa: Hello from all of us! Is it Marissa from Singapore?

anna_alise: you guys are awesome how does it feel to have someone come up to you and say that they love you and want to have your baby.... etc.
ROL_guest: I'd say let's get started!
ROL_guest: Trey: No really. We've been doing this for a long time, and we're blessed to be able to do what we're doing. That's why we got into this to inspire.

mnpittam: I've heard your overseas fans get kind of crazy... especially the ones in Singapore, they get obssessive and don't leave you alone... is this true?
ROL_guest: Not necessarily, and it's not just in Singapore. Our fans are very dedicated and some people interprete that as obsessed. But we look at it as dedicated. And sometimes people can't hep it, and fans can be crazy all around the world. But that is the fun of it though.
(this was a joke...  I guess I should have told them it was me!)

_LadyAnn_: What is the best advice that anyone has ever given you and who gave it to you?
ROL_guest: Hmmmm. This is Trey speaking. I know it sounds cliche. But never give up. And that comes from my parents. If it's something you believe in.
ROL_guest: Dave: I was never really given any advice that I liked. Except from a health class I took when I was young and that got me eating right. If I listened to half the people out there I'd be screwed up.
ROL_guest: Damon: My mom always taught me to the importance of self respect and self worth. And to never let someone's opinion of you become your experience. Like I said before.

gunga_in_africa: What was it like to be on a tour with 98 degrees?
ROL_guest: We actually did that Nickelodeon tour with them, MOnica and Tatiana Ali. And to be honest with you everyone was pretty much on their own schedule. We didn't get to hang out much with them. But they were really nice. Nick's little brother Aaron was on it. And he was awesome. So was Monica and Tatiana.

crazed4nsync_99: I was wondering if you guys were good friends with Nsync or have ever met them!? If you have do you like them?! thanks stephanie.
ROL_guest: Trey: I actually met them, they're definitely really nice. But we've only had an encounter with them one time. They are very respectful, very cool. Their manager knows us and gave us a really great compliment.
ROL_guest: So much respect to them, they've got great vocals and they're great performers

stari007:
anything embarrassing to u ever happen on satge?????
ROL_guest: LOL! Dave: I never get embarrassed.
ROL_guest: Damon: We were doing our various choreographed routines to one of our songs, and the mike slipped out of my hand, off stage, into the crowd. I had to jump off stage and receive it. It was funny.
ROL_guest: Trey: I have a gross story. We were opening up for Whitney Houston, and I got really sick on the tour, a head and nose cold. ANd of course the show had to go on. I was on stage, doing a turn, and I forgot to sniff when I did my turn, and I had a big old snot come out on my face, and the first couple of rows saw it.

eyc_knows_how_to_feel_it: What is your favorite flavor of ice cream?
ROL_guest: Trey: Rainbow sherbert.
ROL_guest: David: Hagen Danz frozen yogurt any flavor.
ROL_guest: Damon: Pralines and cream. We want to say first of all thank you for your love and support. The album is out now called EYC I Feel It.
